Design Don'ts
Don't:
- have too many
colors in your logo (this doesn't matter if you are using Process
printing, as the four colors can be used to simulate unlimited colors
- Create your logo
in a bitmapped program like PhotoShop...this is a bit controversial...but
the reality is that you need a design that can be resized to any resoluton
and still look good. There can be some problems that can pop-up when
the logo is created in PhotoShop and the design needs to be resized.
You can always design in Illustrator and export the design to PhotoShop
and do you filtering work there.
- go overboad with
the "Swoosh" effect. This
is SO very common in designs these days. The bottom line is that it
does look good...it adds a futuristic element to the design. The thing
is, everyone has done it. Use this to complement an original design
- use a color scheme
that clashes with your image...such as pinks/pastels for a firm involved
in military procurement
- have too many
people involved in the decision process for the design approval...you
will bitterly regret it if you don
- include a tagline
in your design. The tagline can always be added in the typesetting
process by your printer.
